A dispute with a landlord, an employer, a tradesman or a neighbour played out on WhatsApp or by email, and the lawyer asks for "the messages, printed". It can all be done from the phone or the computer, sending nothing.
Three steps
Export
From WhatsApp on the phone: on iPhone or on Android. For Gmail: Google Takeout, or a single message.
Drop
Drop the resulting file on WhatsApp chat to PDF, on the phone itself or on a computer. Nothing is uploaded.
Choose and save
Pick the period or the messages, then save the PDF: dated, readable, with the photos, and omitted messages written in their place.
What changes
Nothing leaves
A private chat stays on your phone or computer: it is read in the tab, not on a server.
An honest extract
If you keep only one period, the PDF says so: it counts the omitted messages and writes them in their place, so it is not mistaken for the whole chat.
Better than a screenshot
The whole chosen period, in order, with dates and photos, and a record stating which file the PDF came from.
The framework
Klarinbox formats the export; it does not say the messages are authentic, nor what will be made of them. It is up to you to make sure you may produce these messages, which also belong to other people. When the stakes justify it, ask your lawyer whether the chat should be recorded on the phone by a bailiff or notary.
What it does not do
- Connect to WhatsApp or Gmail: Klarinbox reads the exported file.
- Recover deleted messages, or photos the phone no longer has.
- Say whether the messages are enough for your case: that is the question for your lawyer.
